FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - MAT PILATES COURSE

The Certificate III in Fitness is a prerequisite to the Certificate IV. There are no prerequisites to studying the Pilates Matwork Instructor Course, however we do recommend that you complete your Certificate III beforehand, so you will have the fundamental knowledge and understanding to progress through the course with ease.

The SIS30321 Certificate III in Fitness & SIS40221 Certificate IV in Fitness are Nationally Recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and also recognised by industry bodies such as AUSactive & FITREC. Our Pilates Matwork Instructor Course is accredited with FITREC and pending accreditation with leading Fitness bodies.

Mat Pilates is a great addition to your toolkit and will allow you to stand out from the crowd within the fitness industry. It is accessible to a wide clientele base and will help alleviate a lot of common client complaints (such as flexibility, mobility, etc).

This course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to enable you to instruct Mat Pilates in either a group or 1:1 setting, as well as assist clients in achieving their Pilates goals.

It is accredited with FITREC and pending accreditation with other fitness industry leading registration bodies, so the qualification will also demonstrate your credibility as a fitness and wellness professional.

This hybrid course includes a series of online interactive videos and PowerPoint presentations with a quiz-style assessment accessed via our Online Learning Portal.

In addition, there is also Practical Placement, documented via a logbook, which provides a great opportunity to put your knowledge and skills into practice, helping you gain valuable hands-on experience.

Yes, there is Practical Placement, documented via a logbook, which provides a great opportunity to put your knowledge and skills into practice, helping you gain valuable hands-on experience. You can complete your placement at a Pilates Studio or Gym offering Pilates classes near you.

Yes, should you have difficulties securing placement, AFA can utilise our Industry Partnerships to assist you in finding a suitable facility and mentor.

There are no pre-requisites for this course. However, it is recommended that participants have completed a Fitness Certification, as well as approximately 25 hours of personal Pilates experience/participation, prior to undertaking the Pilates Matwork Instructor Course.

If you haven’t completed prior qualifications or have prior experience, that’s OK. You may find the course a little difficult due to technical terminology and concept, but you’re welcome to enrol. The benefit of studying with AFA is you can bundle the Pilates Matwork Instructor Course and a Fitness/PT Certificate at a discounted rate!

This Pilates Matwork Instructor Course is priced at $1,750.

You can pay for the entire course Upfront or via Direct Debit. Our interest-free payment plans allow you to study from as little as $50 a week or $100 a fortnight and we only require a $100 deposit to secure your spot!

This course is self-paced and students will have up to 12 months of course access. After enrolling on the course, students will receive their login details within 2-3 business days (unless requested otherwise).

The recommended course completion time frame is between 3 – 6 months, however as all content and assessments are on-demand, it can be completed quicker.

You’ll be qualified to instruct Mat Pilates, lead group fitness sessions and work on the gym floor in gyms, studios and fitness centers.

The Certificate IV allows you to run one-on-one personal training sessions, in addition to instructing Pilates and working on the gym floor, giving you the skills to operate as a personal trainer.
